Tina Dobrajc - I’m an Animal, Trapped in Your Hot Concrete

Tina Dobrajc’s exhibition I’m an Animal, Trapped in Your Hot Concrete will be on display in the Kresija Gallery from 29 July to 1 September, 2020.

Artist Tina Dobrajc is a representative of the younger generation of contemporary visual artists. She combines the traditional and folklore with the modern and current. In her paintings, the artist explores the concepts of identity and social labelling. By combining seemingly incompatible images of modernity and traditional motifs, she creates new contexts and explores novel perspectives on both modernity and the past.

The imaginative introduction of engaged content upgrades the paintings and, with the help of narrative iconography, opens them up for reflection, synthesis of tradition, modernity, and rebellion. All of this is additionally emphasised by elements such as embroidery, words, cinematically placed subtitles, artificial flowers, etc., which occupy their own essential space as part of the overall work of art.
The artist presents herself at the Kresija Gallery with a newer painting production, in which she continues and upgrades her previous concepts.
