Palm Springs emerges as a fleeting glimpse of a nostalgic summer—a time and space marked by heat, corporeality, the unbearability of existence, timelessness, the stirrings of hope, the beauty of blue, scorching surfaces, humidity, rest and a trance-like delirium. The juxtaposition of works in the exhibition evokes a creeping sense of time’s relentless passage, anxiety and unease. This feeling is closely intertwined with the delusional idea of an endless summer, where the elusive possibility of truly feeling well dissolves into the renewed shimmer of blue, the tension of overheated bodies and inexplicably heightened dreams.

“In summer, my dreams become more intense. As if, with rising temperatures, amid tangled sheets and increased bodily secretions, my mind, too, were producing more images across different genres, mostly uncivilised and trashy: trash horror, erotic drama, hospitals, magical realism (without flying cows), shit, woodworms, a bathtub in which someone died, two small hooks for a light fixture from which someone hanged themselves, people who transform into something entirely different—but those daffodils were beautiful. I would like to say that my dreams also have something prophetic about them, but in most cases that would be a lie.”
