“Damjan said a short text from me to accompany the exhibition would be most welcome. Since he wasn’t too keen (nor was I, to be honest) on the title I ‘slapped’ onto my previous show — Against the Flow, at Miklova Hiša — I’ve decided to give it a gentle tweak this time...
Given the new reality we all know too well, where art and culture have found themselves stranded on an island, in isolation, the revised title feels oddly fitting… Though in truth, it bears no real — at least no direct — connection to the paintings on display.
I wish you an unburdened viewing… and if possible, set your reason aside. Push it gently into the background. This is not a political programme; there’s nothing to decipher here. Surrender to your raw senses and emotions, and try to pulse along with the unknowable world of imagination… free from masters.
